Terms of Service

Last updated October 2, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and PlaceMatHQ, Inc. ("PlaceMatHQ", "we", "us") for using placemathq.com, the placemat, the Family Portal and our assistant, Mat (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to them.

The Service

PlaceMatHQ gives an older adult (the "resident") a simple daily screen, and gives their family and caregivers a portal to set it up: reminders, calendar, contacts, photos, messages, video calls, radio, news and Mat.

Accounts

Not medical or emergency care

PlaceMatHQ is not a medical device and doesn't give medical advice. Reminders can be missed, and Mat can make mistakes. Don't rely on the Service for medication timing, health decisions or emergencies. In an emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number.

Mat, the assistant

Mat uses artificial intelligence to answer questions and help with tasks the resident asks for. Its answers may be incomplete or wrong. Check anything important with a person you trust.

Credits and payments

Connected accounts

If you connect Google, Apple iCloud or another calendar, you authorise us to read it as described in our Privacy Policy. You can disconnect it at any time. Those services' own terms also apply.

Acceptable use

Don't use the Service to break the law, harm or harass anyone, get into accounts or placemats that aren't yours, or interfere with how the Service works.

Your content

You keep ownership of what you add (photos, notes, messages and so on). You give us permission to store and display it only to run the Service for you and the people you've linked.

Changes and ending the Service

We may change or improve the Service. If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll let account holders know by email before the change applies. You can stop using the Service and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may suspend accounts that break these terms.

Disclaimers and liability

The Service is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before it. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
